Hard Disk manufacture company Seagate is going to launch a new 7mm-thick laptop hard drive

The Hard Disk manufacture company Seagate is going to launch a new 7mm-thick laptop hard drive, which almost 25 percent thinner than current models.

Generally, Disk drives for laptop computers are typically 9.5 mm or 12.5 mm thick. Recent technological advancements in magnetic data storage allows for more data to fit on a single platter. Hence Seagate makes the new technological advancements in magnetic data storage with 7mm-thick laptop hard drive. But Seagate did not disclose the capacity of the drive, which will be part of its Momentous Thin series.

The launch of 7mm-thick laptop hard drive is planned for the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in January, which will allow computer makers to build even thinner laptop computers. This 7mm-thick laptop hard drive is important because it will drive better technology toward the 90 percent of netbooks that rely on 9.5-mm, 2.5-inch drives.

Reasons why PCs crash?

mains reasons why PCs crashes is as follows

Hardware conflict

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device.

Bad Ram

Ram (random-access memory) problems might bring on the blue screen of death with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and will need replacing. But a fatal error caused by Ram might be caused by a mismatch of chips.

BIOS settings

Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. A common way to access these settings is to press the F2 or delete button during the first few seconds of a boot-up.

Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze.

Viruses

First sign of a virus infection is instability. Some viruses erase the boot sector of a hard drive, making it impossible to start. This is why it is a good idea to create a Windows start-up disk.

Choose a Good Domain Name

Domain names can be really long or really short. In general, choose a domain name that is short in length

Choosing a domain name for your site is one of the most important steps towards creating the perfect internet presence. Many factors must be considered when choosing a good domain name.

The shorter your domain name, the easier it will be for people remember. If your site is long and difficult to pronounce, people will not remember the name of the site and unless they bookmark the link, they may never return.

You should also consider the different top level domain names. here are many top level domain names available today including .com, .net, .org, and .biz. In most cases, the more unusual the top level domain, the more available domain names are available. However, the .com top level domain is far and away the most commonly used domain on the internet, driven by the fact that it was the first domain extension put to use commercially and has received incredible media attention. If you cannot lay your hands on a .com domain name, look for a .net domain name, which is the second most commercially popular domain name extension.

Yahoo New Latest customize Home Page

At first glance the organization of the latest home page doesn’t look dramatically different. Yahoo launched of its brand new customizable home page, the first major revamp to the page since 2006. But it soon becomes apparent that this is no longer a one-size fits all Web destinations.
If you like to check the new layout then try this yahoo.com/trynew.

On the upper right, you’ll see the 10 most popular Internet searches. In the middle of the page you’ll find basic news headline links, a mix of hard news, softer stuff and local news. Near the top of the page (and just below a large Yahoo search box) you can enter your own social networking status. But the biggest deal concerns a My Favorites panel running down the left side of the screen. The list includes the requisite Yahoo properties, including Yahoo Autos, Finance, Mail, and Messenger, among others.. But several third party sites also populate the list, including eBay, Facebook, and MySpace.

The company hasn’t made any changes to the fully customizable My Yahoo page, which is currently used by about 50 million people. Yahoo plans to roll out the page in France, India and the UK by the end of the week, with a mobile version also coming soon.Currently the new Yahoo home page is an “opt-in” beta.

Is Today technology skills improved?

Researched by Patricia Greenfield, UCLA distinguished professor of psychology and director of the Children’s Digital Media Center, Los Angeles.

Today technology has played a bigger role in our lives, our skills in critical thinking and analysis have declined, while our visual skills have improved, according to research.

“If we want to develop a variety of skills, we need a balanced media diet. Each medium has costs and benefits in terms of what skills each develops.”

Among the studies Greenfield analyzed was a classroom study showing that students who were given access to the Internet during class and were encouraged to use it during lectures did not process what the speaker said as well as students who did not have Internet access. When students were tested after class lectures, those who did not have Internet access performed better than those who did.

More than 85 percent of video games contain violence, one study found, and multiple studies of violent media games have shown that they can produce many negative effects, including aggressive behavior and desensitization to real-life violence, Greenfield said in summarizing the findings.

In another study, Video game skill predicted laparoscopic surgery skills, Greenfield said. “The best video game players made 47 percent fewer errors and performed 39 percent faster in laparoscopic tasks than the worst video game players.”

Visual intelligence has been rising globally for 50 years. Greenfield believes much of this change is related to our increased use of technology, as well as other factors, including increased levels of formal education, improved nutrition, smaller families and increased societal complexity, etc.

By New technique Mindreading becomes possible

This new technique that uses infrared light brain imaging to decode preference with the goal of ultimately opening the world of choice to children who can’t speak or move.

Bloorview scientists demonstrate the ability to decode a person’s preference for one of two drinks with 80 per cent accuracy by measuring the intensity of near infrared light absorbed in brain tissue.
“This is the first system that decodes preference naturally from spontaneous thoughts,”
After teaching the computer to recognize the unique pattern of brain activity associated with preference for each subject, the researchers accurately predicted which drink the participants liked best 80 per cent of the time.

Most brain-computer interfaces designed to read thoughts require training.
Wearing a headband fitted with fibre-optics that emit light into the pre-frontal cortex of the brain, they were shown two drinks on a computer monitor, one after the other, and asked to make a mental decision about which they liked more. “When your brain is active, the oxygen in your blood increases and depending on the concentration, it absorbs more or less light.”

Luu says. “In some people, their brains are more active when they don’t like something, and in some people they’re more active when they do like something.”

Luu says. The brain is too complex to ever allow decoding of a person’s random thoughts. “However, if we limit the context limit the question and available answers, as we have with predicting preference – then mind-reading becomes possible.“

Arctic and Antarctic Ice Oceans Secrets

The scientists also documented evidence of cold water-loving species shifting towards both poles to escape rising ocean temperatures. Chionodraco hamatus, an Antarctic ice fish, can withstand temperatures that freeze the blood of all other fish types.

These discoveries result in series of landmark.

Among many other findings,The scientists had found marine life that in Both Arctic And Antarctic poles apparently share in common things include marathoners such as grey whales and birds, but also worms, crustaceans, and angelic snail-like pteropods, the latter discoveries opening a host of future research questions about where they originated and how they wound up at both ends of the Earth.

Ice oceans of the Arctic and Antarctic have revealed a trove of secrets to Census of Marine Life explorers, who were especially surprised to find at least 235 species live in both polar seas despite a distance of more than 13,000-kilometer distance in between.

Wow $10 laptop

Wow $10 laptop unveiled yesterday? Yeah, it’s not a laptop. I’ve been reading conflicting information about this device for the past few months. Sometimes it’s supposed to cost $10, sometimes $100. And sometimes it’s called a laptop while other times it had been referred to as a portable computer, which isn’t necessarily the same thing as a laptop. Now that the first image of the device has popped up online, the picture is becoming a bit more clear. As I predicted last week, there’s no keyboard or CPU. The box is a portable device that’s about 10 inches by 5 inches, and which can store information. You can access that info from a full fledged computer. It sounds to me like this is a glorified USB flash drive, but it’s also supposed to be able to let users connect to the computer, so I’m guessing there’s some sort of processor in there. The price right now is being pegged at closer to $30 than $10, but the goal is to bring the cost down so that the Sakshat doesn’t cost much more than a textbook. You know, unless you also want to plug in a monitor and keyboard.

Nayantara Banned from Kollywood

Nayanthara, the top heroine of south India, has been banned by Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Nadigar Sangam from acting in any further Tamil movies.

The verdict was given on hearing the complaint made by the producer of 'Paiyaa' against Nayantara following the latter failing to pay back the advance amount even after backing out from the project. Sources from TFPC say that both the organizations were forced to put a ban on her for refusing to pay back producer and director Lingusamy the advance money.

The TFPC and Nadigar Sangam have said in no uncertain terms to its members, the producers, not to sign her for any future films. In their statement they have requested the producers association in other languages also to cooperate with them in not signing the actress for any further films.

Nayantara however, remained unperturbed. She has reportedly said to a journalist that it was true that she got the money and that she refused to pay it back. She says she has her own reasons for doing so and that she was not given a chance to put forth her argument before the organizations.

villu hit or flop?

Movie: Villu.
Starring: Vijay, Nayanthara, Vadivelu.
Direction: Prabhu Deva
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Production: Ayngaran International.

Rating:*****(1.5/5)

Villu is Prabhu Deva’s version of the Hindi box office hit Soldier. if Prabhu Deva made a good adaptation of Soldier things would’ve been any better. Prabhu Deva has successfully made the army operations appear as if it were a one man attempt.

Vadivelu’s unimaginative comedy track has absolutely no connection with the movie’s main plot.but, it serves as a saving grace for the movie in many instances.

Nayan’s presence serves the purpose of eye candy. Villu’s story is reminiscent of the pre-historic Tamil cinema formulas such as son taking revenge over his father’s killers to satiate his mother’s wishes. And of course, there is time for love, double crossing, comedy and some sentiments . Ravi Varman’s cinematography appear hazed even in the foreign locales. but vijay’s stylish new look help a lot.

Happy NEW YEAR 2009

“Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go”

Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past
